Sino-German Legal Forum

Sino-German Legal Forum is a collection of Chinese law academic journals edited by the Sino-German Institute of Law, Nanjing University, formerly known as the Annual Journal of Nanjing University-Gottingen University Sino-German Institute of Economic Law. It was founded in 1990 and changed to its current name in 2002. In 2017, it was selected for the collection of the "China Social Sciences Citation Index" (CSSCI) and changed from an annual journal to a semi-annual journal. It was the earliest journal in China mainland to focus on introducing German law, European Union law, and the academic research results of the comparison of Sino-German and Sino-European law. It was supported by German Academic Exchange Center(DAAD) and Germany Konrad-Adenauer Foundation (KAS) and has been widely praised by scholars who study German law and European law in Chinese law academia.


Since its beginning, the journal has been paying close attention to the latest developments in German law and EU law, timely reflecting the latest academic achievements of academic exchanges of the Sino-German Institute of Law and the research achievements of domestic scholars on German law. Particularly, the academic papers published at international academic conferences held by the Sino-German Institute of Law over the years and the relevant research results of German scholars who were invited to visit the institute and hold academic lectures are translated into Chinese and published by the journal. The focuses of academic research achievements promoted by this journal include German debt law reform, German and European Union competition law, unification of European private law, German energy law, legal response to agricultural problems in modern German society, law and artificial intelligence, EU data protection law, overseas China law research, German jurists, and codification commentary research, etc.
